First, the goal should be to live!
Setting goals for the New Year can be overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. After all, the real purpose of setting resolutions is to allow you to live a better life, however that translates for you. If you're unsure where to start, perhaps you can take some inspiration from our four simple steps.
One | Start by lighting a scented candle
Before you dive into the process, light a candle, ours or any other, as long as it has a scent you adore. Then, simply take a few deep breaths. No need to rush; everyone's rhythm is different so take your time.
Personally, we love No. 51 Secret Garden for this exercise - the calming scent features pine and eucalyptus with underlying notes of oolong tea, fresh geranium, and earthy moss, all of which transports us to a peaceful garden.
Two | Pick a word or phrase to define your objective
Research what inspires you, or talk to a role model for inspiration on what you'd like to focus on in 2022, then choose a word or a phrase to define how you would like to envision the year ahead. Now, slowly, exhale. We believe this to be the best and simplest way to remind ourselves to relax, heal, and. recover. Inhaling and exhaling also reminds us we are breathing and blessed to be alive.
Three | Acknowledge a partner
It may be your other half, your best friend, or even your pet. Tell them thank you. Everyone needs a form of emotional support now and then, to remind us that we are not alone on this journey.
Four | Reward yourself
Take stock of your accomplishments, congratulate yourself, accept that there are many more to come, and maybe even treat yourself to something special. Every win, no matter how large or small, deserves to be rewarded because your effort counts. Even when you feel like that target remains far away, as long as you're moving, you are getting closer to it.
